Coronavirus, COVID-19, has now caused shutdowns and quarantines globally. It is a pandemic, and there currently is no vaccine yet to protect the population. In the real estate industry here in New Jersey, we are taking certain precautions to protect our buyers and sellers during this very difficult time as we struggle with Covid-19.
Covid-19 and New Jersey Real Estate
In New Jersey , we are currently unable to host open houses due to social distancing, number of people who can gather at once and overall sanitary concerns. We are able to conduct private showings as long as the sellers are accepting of this. It is incredibly important that when doing so, prospective buyers wear proper attire (masks, gloves, etc.). It is also important that the house be cleaned for your own safety. Be very careful about touching surfaces too.
Now while this pandemic of Covid-19 has reeked havoc on New Jersey and across the globe, home buyers are in a uniquely advantageous position when purchasing a home. Interest rates are incredibly low, so in terms of getting financing, you have an opportunity that you may not see in the near future.
Covid-19 is an infectious disease that originated in Wuhan, China. People who are infected with coronavirus, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), will suffer from mild to moderate respiratory illness. The virus is spread through saliva or droplets from the nose that occurs with coughs or sneezes.
If you have any of these symptoms, you should be under the care of a doctor or as many have done, self quarantined. This would be an unwise time to be looking at homes in person here in New Jersey or anywhere for that matter.
Safely Looking for New Jersey Homes Amid Covid-19
Thanks to technology, you can still search for homes online and view pictures, virtual tours and videos while staying safe and keeping those around you safe. This is especially true for those with underlying health conditions and the elderly (as most of us know by now).
